Holy Week 2011

Can you imagine what it would be like to know that this would be the last week of your life here on earth and that you would suffer unimaginable pain and betrayal before moving on the next life to joyously dwell with your heavenly Father forever? Would you be sad, excited, afraid, anxious, apprehensive or a little bit of all of these emotions put together? I imagine that Jesus experienced every human emotion possible during this last week of His human life. From the triumph and exhilaration of entering Jerusalem to the pain of suffering on the cross to the joy and celebration of the resurrection. What a roller coaster of a week! As we remember the final journey of Jesus this week and move through this wide range of emotions we look forward to Easter morning when the promises were fulfilled, our sins were forgiven as Jesus rose again from the dead and conquered sin for us! I pray that you and your family will have meaningful week as you pray and discuss the meaning of the gospel stories and the joy of Easter morning! Read one of the gospels this week with your children and relive the most amazing story ever told! The Blessing of Family

Hello Everyone,
This past week, while on "staycation" I had the amazing blessing of having my sister from Connecticut visit us. I haven't seen my sister Alice in about a year and a half and I didn't realize how much I missed her! I really enjoyed our week together and it made me think about how blessed we are to have our families in our lives. At Trinity Family Ministries we are doubly blessed because God has given us each other. I truly think of all of you as my extended family and I don't think I tell you all often enough how much you mean to me! So, let's make it a point this week to tell each other how much we care! After all, Jesus taught us that God's greatest commandment is to love our Lord God and the second is to love our neighbors! Let me start the ball rolling by telling you "I Love You"!

Prayer is a Powerful Thing

Hello Everyone,
While preparing for my sermon last week on prayer I had an opportunity to reflect on just how powerful prayer can be. Prayer has made an amazing difference in my life and in the lives of so many believers around the world. This week I ask that we all pray for Luke Sims as he continues to heal and become stronger. I also ask that we all pray for Pastor Michael and Pastor Jen. Please pray that the Lord will grant them peace in their hearts as they are there for Luke through this difficult time. God is great! He has blessed us all through Luke's inspiring journey so far in his life and I pray that He will continue to bless us as we watch Luke grow in the years to come.

Here are some Family Ministries updates for this week:

1. Habitat For Humanity Dinner Tonight - Tuesday March 22nd at 5:30pm - Join us in Fellowship Hall for a potluck dinner for the Collegiate Challenge students from up  north, giving up their Spring Break to work on a Habitat build here in Martin County. Bring a dish and join us for the fun!

The rest of our groups will begin meeting again in June.

3. Little Caesar's Pizza Pick-up - Friday March 25th 5pm-6:30pm - Please be at the church this Friday night between 5pm - 6:30pm to pick up your pizza kits that you sold in the fundraiser. Pray for our World!

Hello,
I seem to be glued to the TV lately. The string of devastating events in Japan has just overwhelmed me. From the earthquake to the tsunami and now to the nuclear crisis, my heart is just broken for the people of Japan. I have prayed quite a bit over the last week or so. I have prayed for the Japanese people. I have prayed for the workers in the nuclear power plants and their families. I have prayed for the children who have witnessed this disaster and I have prayed for our world, that we may learn from this and humble ourselves in the sight of our God, ask for His forgiveness and pray that He will continue to guide us towards His plan for each if us. Most importantly, I pray that we learn to listen to God's whispers in our lives so that we may honor Him and one another. I also pray for a world where Good News abounds. A world where the nightly news talks of love and hope - not death and hopelessness.

We can help to build a world where love abounds! In The Great Commission, Jesus tells us, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20.)

So here is my question for you this week. How have you shared the good news of Jesus Christ this week? Even more specifically, who have you invited to church lately? This is a wonderful time of year to invite folks to join us. The Lenten season provides a wonderful starting point for a person's faith journey and also a great fertile ground for us to grow our relationship with Christ. I challenge each of you to invite a friend or a whole family to come to church with you in the next few weeks. When we invite others into our faith family we are doing exactly what Christ commanded us to do - share the good news of the gospel and make disciples!

As we begin our Lenten Journey here is a brief list of some of the programs and activities we have happening in the next few weeks

5. Easter Cantata:
It looks like there is no song for the kids at the Eatser Cantata this year. However, they will be offered parts in drama and dance. The rehearsal schedule is as follows:

March 22nd, March 29th, March 31st, April 5th, April 7th - 7pm
April 9th - 9am
April 12th - 6:30pm (Dress Rehearsal)

Performances: Wednesday April 13th and Thursday April 14th - must arrive at church at 5:45pm

Contemporary Christian Music Comes to Trinity!

Well, on Saturday March 12th, our sanctuary will rock like it has never rocked before. In The Walk, a Christian worship band from South Florida will fill our church with their amazing music as we welcome families from our community and worship God together! I am truly excited about this event because I believe God will use this band and this music to bring "pre-Christians" to a relationship with  him through this inspiring, contemporary music. Please pray that families will not only enjoy this event but also be inspired to seek Him further! This is the event that you will want to invite all your friends to, so get on the phone and the email and spread the word!
